Our Fourth Grade Classroom Economy
Banker Ainsley pays customer Anders cash for his credits.
Welcome to our fourth grade behavior banking system! In an effort to create a respectful, responsible, and safe classroom environment, the Fourth Grade teachers have come together to implement a consistent system focusing on personal responsibility, exhibiting good character, and going the extra mile.
This classroom economy system is based on students earning credits and debits throughout the day. Credits are earned for meeting or exceeding expectations and debits are earned through neglect of school rules. Students will keep records of their credits and debits in their assignment notebooks and parents will sign student bank slips each Friday.
Credits earned will go toward buying goods in our class store--The Beverly Hills Boutique--or purchasing from a menu of activities with other fourth graders. In an effort to make our classroom store run effectively, we are asking for donations of small toy and gift items such as erasers, stickers, smencils and other items you can easily find at the dollar store.
Students also have the opportunity to spend their earnings on Shenanigans Stock: we offer Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar, Math, and Social Studies stocks. The values of these stocks increase and decrease based on the average test scores of the class. Study hard, do well, and your stock will go up, up, up!
The Extra Mile Limo Spin is a special opportunity given to students who demonstrate effort beyond the call. This might be answering a question on this website, thinking of an innovation that makes classroom life better, or demonstrating utmost kindness toward others.
Students have jobs each week to help make our classroom run smoothly and look beautiful. Each job has a salary and when the job is done well, the crew member earns top dollar. Jobs are rotated weekly and range from checking in homework to caring for our tortoise, Toshy . Many hands make light work! We want to be proud of our classroom and keep it neat, sparkling, and fun to be in for all.
